I’m from South India and don’t know hindi/punjabi/urdu, but have been listening to Nusrat for every single day for the past 10 years. He is simply the best. If you hear his music with eyes closed, you won’t want it to end ..
I have been searching for a video clip where Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Peter Gabriel sing together I believe it was “Lay your hands on me” but not sure. It was rare footage shown on MTV.
Brilliant, khan saab has taken my breath and soul and these video clips show how, i know anyone else who has seen him will know exactly what I mean, my only suggestion for the site is that you should put clips from some rare concerts that many people dont have the videos of, for example if there are any recordings’ video or audio that have been taken at sufi shrines, that would be much appriciated, the clips above are widely available on dvd etc, so I for one would love to see and hear some rare recordings.

for jmoiz: if you live in the UK the dvds are ver easy to get, the clips above are one dvd: live in the uk vol. 2. but there are so many live dvds and videos as well as audio tapes and cds and stuff on www.osa.co.uk you can order all these things online; or buy them in the shop in birmingham.

The link below is a link to a video clip i have uploaded it shows a performance by Ustad Ji in an intimate gathering in the Lozells area of Birmingham one year before my birth (1983). After a passing request from a crowd member Ustad Ji complies and performs what i think is one of his greatest raags. At 2 minutes 54 secs you will see the ensemble breaking away from the traditional sa-re-ga… raag sounds and trying something new, the change if you watch carefully is instigated by Mujahid Mubarak Ali Khan. It really does speak for itself. Enjoy the clip.

After listening to numerous khan sahab’s albums, one album is really special and its highly recommended by me who love nusrat saab magical voice with drums, electric guitars, saxophone…its “Swan Song”. This album has 2 cd’s and this was khan saabs final performance before he departed. Traditional qawalli listeners may have different feelings for this album but Nusrab saab’s magic was his innovation and experimentation with his talent.

It is “Saray Nabiyan Da Nabi” … but you won’t this portion in any audio album.

Awesome site you have here, this totally made my day. I would love to help you with anything you need, a have some pictures of Nusrat I have collected from the internet, lots of songs from random torrent sites and have bought some concert DVDs and ripped some qawaalis off there and uploaded them to google video. If you would like I would love to send them to you if it could benefit the site.
Although I am affiliated(spiritually)to the Dargah of Pir Mehr Ali shah Sahib(only five minutes from my house in Islamabad,Pakistan)I was not aware that Nusrat sang so beautifully his “Kithay Mehr Ali, Kithay Teri Sana(You can hardly qualify; How can you be audacious to edify, how unworthy you are even to try …..to describe the glory of the persona of the Prophet(Mohammad,PBUH).
It was a treat for me on the this first day of July, 2006.

just like to ask a question or rather bring attention to you all of a tape i bought whilst in pakistan. It is for me by far the most amazing performance Khan Sahib ever did. Its released by RGH as far as i know ( cassette didnt have a cover! ) and features Ya Haiyu Ya Qayum/Allahu/Kamili Walae Muhammad (saw) and the most emotional track on the tape about wanting to visit Madinah.. Does anyone know of this recording and if so can you get it on CD? I have searched all over for a cd copy ( even OSA! ( i live a short distance away) they dont know of it).
Any help would be most appreciated

I have been searching for many many years for a group of 3 songs that I had once heard on an audio cassette. I haven’t ben able to find this tape anywhere on cd or the internet and I am hoping that someone will be able to help me please. One of the songs is a very popular one “Mast Qalander”. The other two, however. were sung in Punjabi. I don’t even know the the official names of the songs, but please help me if you do. The words to one of them were somewhat as follows: “Oh Rabha kahdi vi na pehn vichore, sun leh duyawan meriyan, koi jaande hue sajna nu morre…” And the next one was a really awesom eone somewhat like this…”Hun piyala rahk deh ik pahse, aaj nazaran naal pilaa saahki” Another line from the same song is “Mein tha peeni yah, mein tha peeni yah peeni yah…” I am hoping and pleading with anyone who knows the name of the album or songs that may be able to help me. NFAK sahab is really greatest legend in the music world.
He could sing in all octaves and this is really really very rare quality in any singer.
His tabla player Darbar-khan is also very good and the way he gives rythmic accompanance to great maestro is appreciable.

Even after 11 years of his death, none can come closer to Khan Shaib, i would say his vooice was Naturally copy right protacted (i mean to say even if someone try to copy him, he/she cannot do so becuase God gave him such a unique voice & talant) I pray May his sould be in rest and peace (Ameen)
